SPRING LUNCH 2011
After the long winter it was a relief to be celebrating the beginning of Spring and we had a lovely Spring Lunch at the Royal Overseas League. I was delighted to see our Speaker, Georgina Butler, arrive early and as always we had very good support from EUW members. Many people travel a long way to the Spring Lunch and we are extremely grateful for their effort and are pleased to see them. The Royal Overseas League provided an excellent lunch with their usual care and attention. Georgina Butler, our Guest Speaker and E.U.W. member, former Ambassador to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, was superb and I know that I was not the only person who would have been happy to stay and listen to her for much longer. This was the last lunch under my chairmanship and I was so pleased that it was a great success. Penny Harbour organised the Tombola which was very popular. I would like to thank the committee, staff at the Royal Overseas League, generous sponsors and all who support the Spring Lunch for your help and enthusiasm during the last three years. My best wishes to Jan Weller and her team for next year and I look forward to seeing you all at the 2012 Spring Lunch.
