Europe Alive was started in 1983 by Alison Tennant to enable EUW members to meet in different countries for cultural, political and social exchange.
In 2025 there are going to be two Europe Alive events. The first is in Vienna from 25th-28th February, when 40 delegates from 6 countries, including 9 British members, will meet, visit the Houses of Parliament and attend the Small Vienna Opera Ball in the Town Hall. The main 2025 Europe Alive event is being hosted by the Maltese Section from 16th-20th October, to showcase Malta and Gozo with visits to the Maltese Parliament and St. John’s Cathedral. Further details will be sent out in March. Meanwhile, members may like to know there is a 250-euro fee which covers coach transport, boat trip, entrance fees and 4 meals but delegates must also pay for their flights and accommodation. Places are limited so anyone interested in attending will need to send an expression of interest, stating their reason for wishing to go, any languages they speak apart from English and any previous experience of Europe Alive events. The aim is to develop strong relationships between EUW members across Europe. Finally, the Czech Section has offered to host the 2026 Europe Alive in historic Brno, the second city of Czechia from 3rd-7th June 2026 for which programme details will be available later this year.
